Biography

Hannah King is a musician driven by a simple belief: music can change young lives. Known for her warmth and enthusiasm, she balances a vibrant performing career with a deep commitment to music education.
Originally from Bolton, she trained at Chetham’s School of Music and later at Trinity College, Cambridge, where holding both choral and instrumental scholarships helped shape her passion for supporting young musicians. That early inspiration now fuels her wide-ranging work with young people across the UK.
Hannah directs the two youngest choirs at Finchley Children’s Music Group and co-directs Highbury Youth Choir. She is a regular workshop leader and music team member for the National Youth Choir, including work as Assistant Conductor on their 9-15 and 15-18 courses. She also serves as Assistant Head of Vocal Studies at Highgate School and mentors young creatives through Arts Emergency.
As a composer, Hannah specialises in music for developing voices. Her works are published by Choral Music Publishing and have been performed by ensembles including London Youth Choir, Salford Cathedral Girls Choir and Brent Music Service. She has led songwriting projects for the National Schools Singing Programme, Tenebrae Schools and Rosehill Theatre, and her primary school song cycle ‘Songs of the Earth’, created with pupils across Greater Manchester, is freely available via Salford Cathedral.
Hannah also maintains an active performing career, singing with groups such as Tenebrae, ORA and the BBC Singers. Recent appearances include One Voice, a collaboration between Tenebrae and Third Culture Collective, and Steve Reich’s Desert Music at the BBC Proms. She is the creative lead for Tenebrae Schools, a regular member of the music team on Gabrieli ROAR, and trains professional and student choirs in leading workshops for children.
